This replica mummified head is handmade from polymerised plaster (very hard casting plaster mixed with an acrylic polymer to create a material similar to a resin). The use of a rubber mould combined with this material means that textures such as cloth, skin, bone etc are faithfully reproduced, this detail is further enhanced by painting which is applied in multiple layers for depth and realism.
Although not an exact replica of an actual artefact this piece is inspired from studying Egyptian mummies.
